A rave review for Benjamin Alard’s ‘Bach: Concerti Italiani’ concert

Acclaimed French harpsichordist, organist and clavichordist Benjamin Alard rightly received exceptional praise from Washington Classical Review for a brilliant concert performed at Capriccio Baroque, April 30, 2026.

‘…The concert opened with a real dazzler, the Prelude and Fugue in A minor, BWV 894… The prelude began with a brooding theme that blossomed into a profusion of dramatic writing, with Alard in full control…’

In Bach’s Concerto in C major, BWV 976, Alard made the ‘…melody noble and affecting, and excelled in the finale, with Vivaldi’s sturdy theme complemented by Bachian runs up and down the keyboard.’
