Byron Schenkman spreads delight and joy with his program ‘Haydn and Contemporaries’

Byron Schenkman performed a delightful, joyous program at Capriccio Baroque on January 13, 2024. The center pieces were two of Joseph Haydn’s sparkling, lively keyboard Sonatas. These were complimented by other keyboard Sonatas which were written by composers who were well-regarded in their time, but whose music is little-known today. These works by female composers Anna Bon di Venezia and Marie-Emmanuelle Bayon were a revelation. Three vibrant Sonatas by Domenico Scarlatti rounded out a very well-received program and resulted in a standing ovation and calls for two dazzling encore pieces.
