Capriccio launches a Harpsichord Festival
Capriccio Baroque ran its first Harpsichord Festival in October/November 2024. True to form, Capriccio brought out three of today’s most acclaimed harpsichordist stars for the event. Young superstar Justin Taylor performed in the opening concert playing a program of rich, glorious works from his recent award-winning album ‘Bach in Italy’. The great master Pierre Hantaï followed playing two concerts with programs featuring works by composers that he has built his reputation and fame on – Bach’s Goldberg Variations, Keyboard Sonatas by D. Scarlatti and Suites by Handel. The audience couldn’t get enough with calls for four encore pieces following one of the concerts. Festival Capriccio’s closing concert featured another French ‘great’, Christophe Rousset, whose performance of French Baroque composers won a listing in the Washington Classical Review’s Top Ten Concerts of 2024.
